President adjusts federal salary levels

President Bush issued an executive order Thursday setting 2007 salary levels for federal employees. The Executive Level 1 salary level has been set at $186,600, a $3,100 increase (1.7 percent) over the 2006 level. The current cap on extramural salaries for National Institutes of Health, Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, and Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration grants are tied to the Executive Level 1 salary level.
