Dresen moves on; 3 to share leadership in interim

After serving seven years as the School of Medicine's chief information officer, Scott Dresen has accepted the position of director of technology services for Spectrum Health, in Grand Rapids, Mich.

Under Scott's leadership, our information technology infrastructure has been transformed and has become an essential foundation for our education, research, and clinical care missions, wrote Michael Herbert in a letter announcing Mr. Dresen's departure. Although Scott's innovation and leadership will truly be missed, he has built a solid and dedicated team that will enable a seamless transition until we can select his permanent replacement.

Effective Feb. 12, a leadership team of three will collaborate to support the integrated activities of the School of Medicine and the University Physician Group. Kathy Borlas will serve as interim information technology director of Medical School Information Systems, and Bill Fleishmann will serve as interim chief information officer for the University Physician Group. Irwin Rauschendorfer will support both organizations.
