Facilities: Vital Signs Cafe improvements

Survey influences Vital Signs Cafe improvements
As a result of a recent customer-satisfaction survey, several improvements will be made to Scott Hall's Vital Signs Cafe during January and February.

As of yesterday, Jan. 18, self-serve breakfast items, such as oatmeal, grits and biscuits and gravy, have been moved to the soup area. New grab-and-go items have been introduced in the open-air cooler. These items include hummus with pita, tabouli salad with pita, tomato star with tuna, pre-made sandwiches and entree salads. The condiment counter has been moved over to the old counter where Freshens smoothies were located. The new smoothie station will open inside the kitchen area and will be open from 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. on a trial basis. The success of extended hours ill be monitored every couple weeks.

Starting Monday, Jan. 24, a salad bar-by-the-ounce will be introduced. A digital scale will be at both the register and counter so customers can calculate their approximate cost before check-out. An entree with a potato and vegetable will be offered daily. Improved pizza will also be available.

In February, once the main campus Einstein Bros. Bagels location is open, Einstein Bros. will begin supplying bagels to the cafe.
