State, private sources fund most stem-cell research

A recent study from the Rockefeller Institute of Government at the State University of New York revealed that state governments and private foundations are outspending the federal government on human embryonic stem-cell research. Private foundations and states have provided an estimated $1.7 billion and $3.3 billion, respectively, for stem-cell research programs.
