Main Campus: President's Holiday Celebration; University calendars, talking points

President's Holiday Celebration announced
President Irvin D. Reid will host his annual holiday celebration for employees on Wednesday, Dec. 1. The celebration runs from 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Student Center Ballroom. Its highlight is the employee talent show from 3:15 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. Performers include:

  • Voices of Wayne Choir, including Julie Miller, secretary to the Board of Governors and executive assistant to the president; Cindy Lawrence and Amy Cooper, both of Office of the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs; Sue Brown, Office of Technical Support Services; and Jan Collins-Eaglin, Counseling and Psychological Services and Educational Accessibility Services, singing "Santa Baby" and "Somewhere Out There." Accompanied by Matt Fillion, WSU music student and pianist;
  • Tyrone Austin, University Advising Center, performing Holy Is His Name;
  • The 'Tations, including Michael Bowen, Chris Basso, Tim Demos, Leonard White and Kathleen Meyer, all of the Office of Business Operations, performing "My Girl";
  • Laura Miller, Interdisciplinary Studies Program, and Lei Juan Stewart, Student Center Administration, in a dance routine;
  • Sonya Bailey and David Scott, both of the Office of Fiscal Operations, performing "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas";
  • R. Anton Hough, Department of Biological Sciences, with an Elvis-inspired rendition of "Little Sister/Blue Christmas";
  • Julie Zhu, Office of Computing and Information Technology, with a Chinese sword;
  • Cheri Miller, Department of Economics, in a music and vocal performance of "One Bright Star/Mary's Lullaby";
  • Deborah Wright, Fran Marlowe, Jan DePreister-Morandini, Jennifer Crystal and Jan Collins-Eaglin, all of Educational Accessibility Services, in a skit, "Clifford the Big Red Dog Goes to School";
  • Carolyn Hafner, Office of Internal Audit, performing "O Holy Night", accompanied by Matt Fillion, WSU music student and pianist; and
  • Mistletones, including Scott Casey, C⁢ Liz Rager, Office of Organization and Employee Development, on piano; Liz Moen, Office of Institutional Analysis; and Curt Brahm, School of Social Work, on trumpet, performing "Little Trumpet Boy" and "12 Days of Christmas."

After the show, join the President's International Holiday Lighting Celebration at 5 p.m. on Gullen Mall, featuring free refreshments and music by hip-hop radio station WDTJ 105.9.

University calendars, talking points now available
The 2005 University calendar, featuring sleek, black-and-white campus images and key Did-You-Know marketing facts, is now available. In addition, the 2005 talking-points cards, which feature key University facts will also be available soon. These wallet-sized cards include great topics to prompt a pro-Wayne State discussion.
