FDA grants available

The Food and Drug Administration's Office of Orphan Products Development has announced the availability of funds for fiscal year 2009 and 2010 grants to support clinical trials on the safety and effectiveness of products for rare diseases and conditions. These studies are intended to provide data to the FDA that will substantially contribute to the approval of new products, or new indications for already marketed products. Rare diseases or conditions are defined as those with a prevalence of fewer than 200,000 people in the United States.
