Volunteer for WSU Health Fair
The Health Science Committee of the WSU Commission on the Status of Women will host a university wide health fair on Thursday, Nov 11, 2004 from 11: a.m. to 3 p.m. . Participants will include representatives from the WSU School of Medicine, College of Nursing, School of Pharmacy & Health Sciences, School of Nutrition, Karmanos Cancer Institute, Henry Ford Health System Complementary & Integrative Medicine Center, St. John's Healing Arts Center and other community organizations.

Health fairs are a satisfying and rewarding way to display our commitment to community outreach and delivering the most up-to-date, technologically advanced health care possible. Faculty physicians, residents and students proudly represent the School of Medicine and WSU Physician Group by volunteering in such health fairs and providing information on mental health awareness (anxiety/sleep/depression disorders), stroke screenings, eye exams, skin cancer screening, blood pressure and cholesterol screenings, to name a few.

Yarn and fabric donations needed to knit for NICU babies
Hutzel Women's Hospital NICU/SCN is collecting baby-soft yarn in various colors to make hats, booties and blankets. The group would like to make approximately 50 hats and booties sets in Christmas green and red for babies ranging from one pound to 10 pounds. In addition to yarn, we need six yards of cotton fabric (not flannel) or three yards of patterned fabric, with three yards of a coordinating solid color, to make isolette covers. The fabric should have a baby theme and in colors for boys, girls or unisex. Several groups have already volunteered to sew and knit the items, but anyone is free to join the effort. Contact Rosalyn Hall at (313) 966-2271, Karen Grace at (313) 745-0741 or Juanita Wade at (313) 745-7667 for yarn, material and a pattern. Drop off your yarn or fabric donations at Hutzel's 2 Brush Center (SCN) or 3 Brush Center (NICU).
