Americans report negative views of health-care industry

More than half of Americans (56 percent) have a negative image of the health-care industry, according to the results of a recent Gallup Poll survey. This marks a steep decline in the healthcare favorability rating during the past four years. Among the 25 business and industry sectors included in the poll, the restaurant and computer industries topped the list as having the most positive or favorable image. Survey respondents felt far less positive about the health-care industry, which ranked 23rd on the list, above only the federal government and the oil and gas industries. The pharmaceutical industry ranked 22nd on the list. Gallup attributed the health-care industry's low ranking to Americans' concern about access to and costs of medical care.
