Volunteer Notices: NAAMA Walk for Women's Cancer; kudos to Movement for Life volunteers

NAAMA's Walk for Women's Cancer
The National Arab-American Medical Association will sponsor a Walk for Women's Cancer on Sunday, Aug. 29, at the Detroit Zoo. Proceeds from the event will benefit women's health education and awareness programs at the Karmanos Cancer Institute. Cancer causes one-quarter of the nation's deaths each year; of these cases, nearly one-third are women. For more information on how you can contribute to this cause or to sign up for the walk, please visit www.cancerwalk.org.

Kudos to 'Movement for Life' Volunteeers
Thanks to all those who participated in the kick-off of the city of Detroit's new health initiative, "Movement for Life." A number of volunteers rearranged their schedules and worked multiple days to accommodate the need for volunteers at this event. In addition to providing health screenings and critical answers to health questions asked by city of Detroit employees, the volunteers provided a number of outpatient education services. Because of the WSU/DMC volunteers, the event was a success. Thank you and congratulations.
