Volunteer Notices: Movement for Life, CHM Project Challenge

Volunteers are needed to help provide blood-pressure and cholesterol screenings at upcoming Movement for Life events. Movement for Life is the city of Detroit's health and wellness initiative, which aims to motivate residents and city of Detroit employees to pursue active, healthy lifestyles. The program focuses on four major areas of healthy living: preventive health care, physical activity, nutrition and diet, and sleep and stress management.

WSU School of Medicine and the Detroit Medical Center will conduct screenings for city of Detroit employees at several locations from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., on today through June 25 and June 28 through June 30. Clinical volunteers are needed to provide lipid-panel and blood-pressure screenings. Training will be available for use of the Cholestech LDX machine for interested clinical volunteers.

Children's Hospital of Michigan's Project Challenge
Project Challenge, a Children's Hospital of Michigan program, is looking for camp counselors for its summer camp program, which serves children and adolescents who have or are affected by HIV/AIDS. Counselors must be 18 years or older. The camp will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays from through Aug. 12.
