AAMC: Women in Medicine, academic physician scholarships

The AAMC Women in Medicine Program is seeking nominations for the 2004 Women in Medicine Leadership Development Award. The award recognizes an individual or women's group for outstanding contributions to the development of women leaders in the field of academic medicine. Any member of the academic medical community may be nominated. Nomination forms must be received by July 30. The award will be presented in Nov. at the AAMC Annual Meeting in Boston. The AAMC Women in Medicine Program has also issued a call for abstracts or posters that highlight women's leadership programs and women's health research. Selected entries will be presented at the first-ever Women in Medicine Poster Reception, "Showcasing Women's Leadership," to be held in Boston during the AAMC Annual Meeting. Submitted abstracts could include: research or project development reports; descriptions of new partnerships resulting in the advancement of women; inter-department curriculum plans for advancing women's health; or innovative solutions to old challenges. Philanthropic program seeks applicants for academic physician scholarships
Goldman Philanthropic Partnerships is seeking applications for its 2005 Charles E. Culpeper Scholarships in Medical Science Program, which is designed to support the career development of academic physicians. The program provides up to three awards of $100,000 per year for three years to medical schools, on behalf of selected candidates who must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents and must have received a medical degree in 1996 or later. Candidates will be judged by the quality of their research proposals and their potential for successful careers in academic medicine. Applications must be submitted by Aug. 16.
