Philanthropic program seeks applicants for academic physician scholarships
Goldman Philanthropic Partnerships is seeking applications for its 2005 Charles E. Culpeper Scholarships in Medical Science Program, which is designed to support the career development of academic physicians. The program provides up to three awards of $100,000 per year for three years to medical schools, on behalf of selected candidates who must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents and must have received a medical degree in 1996 or later. Candidates will be judged by the quality of their research proposals and their potential for successful careers in academic medicine. Applications must be submitted by Aug. 16. For more information, visit www.goldmanpartnerships.org.

Health Professions Partnership Initiative releases publication
The Health Professions Partnership Initiative recently released a literature review that features examples of educational partnerships for K-12 schools, universities, medical institutions, community organizations and others interested in increasing minority representation in the health careers. "Learning from Others: A Literature Review and How-To Guide from the Health Professions Partnership Initiative" displays how a variety of concepts may be applied in education-pipeline partnerships. The AAMC is the national program office for the initiative, which is made possible by grants from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the W.K. Kellogg Foundation.
