Medical students win Campus Life Leadership Awards

School of Medicine students were recognized at the WSI Campus Life Leadership Awards earlier this month. Mausumi Syamal and James Lee, both Year I students, won Outstanding Graduate/Professional Student Awards. The award recognizes students who have made outstanding contributions to WSU in leadership and service within and outside of their academic program. Also, Leslie Lawrenson, a Year II student, and her group, Amigos Medicos, won the Service to Detroit Award. The Amigos Medicos student group seeks to improve the health and wellbeing of underserved members of the local Hispanic population by providing free health education in the community as well as Spanish language instruction for future physicians.
