Mark Juzych, M.D., WSU assistant dean for Graduate Medical Education, recently participated in a roundtable discussion in Washington on "Eliminating the Physician Shortage Act of 2006," legislation recently drafted by U.S. Rep. John Conyers, Jr., D.-Mich. The goals of the legislation are to increase the number of new medical school admissions by 30,000 per year by increasing the number of slots at medical schools, revitalizing the J-1 Visa Program to recruit foreign medical students and creating new medical schools.
