Dr. Theodore Barber, a WSU urology resident, will receive one of three CapCURE Awards at the upcoming meeting of the Society of Urologic Oncology at the annual meeting of the Urological Association, in Atlanta, on May 20. Dr. Barber's abstract was one of three chosen out of thousands of applicants. The award is based on work resulting from a collaboration between the departments of Urology and Pathology as well as the Genitourinary Multidisciplinary Team of the Karmanos Cancer Institute. The abstract sheds light on the controversial practice of treating only part of the prostate gland when a small amount of cancer is present. Co-authors include Vaishali Pansare, Dimitriy Nikolavsky, J. Edson Pontes, Wael Sakr and Michael Cher.
