AMA Foundation honors Dr. Hammami

he American Medical Association Foundation has awarded Mouhanad Hammami, M.D., of the WSU Department of Pediatrics, a 2006 Leadership Award for his outstanding non-clinical leadership skills in advocacy, community service and education. The awards are designed to provide young physicians special training to develop their skills as future leaders in organized medicine; they are presented in association with the Pfizer Medical Humanities Initiative. Dr. Hammami is on the board of directors of the Michigan chapter of the National Arab-American Medical Association. During his term as chapter president, NAAMA Michigan participated in several projects including continuing medical education, free health clinics and cultural festivals where multilingual health-education materials were provided. Dr. Hammami is also a founder of the NAAMA Walk for Women's Cancer.
