M.D./Ph.D. student receives NIH fellowship

Thomas Beaumont, a Wayne State University M.D./Ph.D. student, recently received a Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award fellowship for his proposal, "Activity-Dependent Gene Expression in Epileptogenesis." Mr. Beaumont's work is sponsored by Jeffrey Loeb, M.D., Ph.D., WSU assistant professor of neurology and a member of the Center for Molecular Medicine & Genetics. The award covers all educational expenses, provides benefits, a stipend and a limited institutional allowance for equipment. It also allows Mr. Beaumont to participate in career-development exercises, including mentoring and an annual trip to the National Institutes of Health.
