Dr. Karpawich reports achievements in pediatric cardiology

Peter P. Karpawich, M.D., professor of pediatrics and director of cardiac electrophysiology at Children's Hospital of Michigan, has recently co-authored a cardiology textbook entitled Pacing Options in the Adult Patient with Congenital Heart Disease. Published by Blackwell Futura, of Malden, Mass., it is one of the few textbooks available today that specifically addresses the various congenital heart anatomies, technical pitfalls and how to avoid them in pacemaker and defibrillator therapy among this growing patient population.

In addition, Dr. Karpawich recently served as an invited faculty and chairman of the International Symposium on Arrhythmias in Children at the University of Groningen, in the Netherlands. He also served as an invited faculty speaker at the Annual Scientific Session of the American Heart Association, in Chicago.

Pediatric cardiology fellows Ashraf Harahsheh, M.D., and Surendranath Reddy, M.D.,Pooja Gupta, M.D., presented her research study at the American Academy of Pediatrics, Section of Cardiology, Annual Scientific Session, in Atlanta. presented their research studies at the annual fall meeting of the American College of Cardiology, Michigan Chapter, held in Travis City.
