Seemant Chaturvedi, M.D., professor of neurology and director of the Wayne State University/DMC Stroke Program, has been named to the executive committee of the Protected Carotid Artery Stenting in Subjects at High Risk for Carotid Endarterectomy (PROTECT) study. The study, funded by Abbott Vascular, will examine the results of carotid stenting in patients who are not optimal candidates for carotid surgery. Dr. Chaturvedi co-edited the book Carotid Artery Stenosis: Current and Emerging Treatments, published in 2005.
