New student orientation culminates Saturday with white coat ceremony

Members of the WSU School of Medicine's incoming class will take the Oath of Commitment Saturday and accept their short white medical coats as a symbol of their dedication to medicine. The ceremony will cap off a week of activities organized through New Student Orientation to introduce the new class students to the hospital and medical school environment.

Students were divided into small groups, each of which toured the hospitals with a medical team. A tour of the city of Detroit and a demonstration of the latest ultrasound technology were provided. Students also lunched with physician faculty mentors, who will build four-year relationships to guide students through medical school.
