WSU abuse program wins national award

A pilot program that teaches WSU medical residents how and why to screen patients for domestic abuse received a national award from the Chicago-based Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association. The program was developed by the school in conjunction with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and Blue Care Network. The initiative was one of 11 programs of more than 165 entries to receive the "Best of Blue" designation. Recognized for outstanding physician education and communication, the program provides training sessions on social, medical and legal issues of domestic abuse.
