New crisis intervention program praised

The Detroit-Wayne county Mental Health Agency presented the 2004 New Program of the Year Award to the Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine Professionals, the practice plan for the WSU Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Medicine. The award recognized the group for provision of services for crisis intervention for children and adolescents in Detroit and Wayne County. The new child guidance model used in the Children's Hospital Emergency Department provides high-quality and comprehensive assessment in the emergency-room setting while decreasing length-of-stay in the emergency department, as compared to traditional on-call psychiatric consultative services.
