Tammy Lundstrom, M.D., WSU assistant professor of internal medicine, has been appointed to the 2004-05 Hospital Standards Advisory Group of the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. The advisory group, which includes leaders from a cross section of hospitals and hospital associations, will review data and provide advice on revised standards. They also will review how the commission surveys and scores each organization and program with respect to the clarity, relevance to safety and quality, and applicability and utility in daily operations.

JCAHO, the nation's preeminent standards-setting and accredity body in health care, evaluates and accredits nearly 16,000 organizations and programs. Its accreditation is nationally recognized as a symbol of quality that reflects an organization's commitment to meeting certain performance standards.
