Mary Nies, Ph.D., R.N., co-director of the WSU Center for Urban African-American Health and a professor community medicine and nursing, recently was named dean of the School of Nursing at Stony Brook, State University of New York. Stony Brook University has an erollment of 22,000 students, 750 of whom study nursing. It generates about $150 million in research funding annually.
