The Societa Italiana di Diabetologia recently awarded Dr. Piero P. Foa, WSU professor emeritus of physiology, its 2004 medal of honor for his contributions to the field of pancreatic endocrinology. The award was presented to Dr. Foa at the end of May at the association's meeting, which was attended by nearly 3,000 people. Dr. Foa served at the School of Medicine for nearly 40 years.
