"Future Docs" provides hands-on medical experience
A few hundred Detroit-area children will have a chance to learn all about the brain, eyes and lots of other body parts as they participate in the Wayne State University School of Medicine's Future Docs event on Saturday, Sept. 11.

Children, aged 6 to 12, will participate in fun, hands-on experiences related to medicine and the human body. In addition to studying human brains and eyes, children will have a chance to receive their own genetic printout and DNA bracelets; participate in an image tour of babies, both human and animal; learn about ambulances; conduct a chemistry experiment on acids and bases; and experience what it's like to be in a cast.

More than 300 people attended the event last year. This year's Future Docs will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 11, in WSU's Scott Hall, 541 E. Canfield, in Detroit.

Tickets are $15 for children, which includes a Future Docs lab coat, lunch and other give-away items; adult tickets are $5. All children must be accompanied by an adult. For more information, to sign your child up, please call (313) 577-1474 by Tuesday, Sept. 7.
