Dr. Jackson-Menaldi named honorary professor at University of Aconcagua School of Medicine

Maria-Cristina Jackson-Menaldi, Ph.D., adjunct professor in the Department of Otolaryngology at the Wayne State University School of Medicine, recently received an honorary professorship from the University of Aconcagua, School of Medicine in Argentina.

Dr. Jackson-Menaldi, a native of Argentina, received the honor from Dr. Osvaldo Caballero, president of the university. The honor recognizes her achievements in academic research and teaching.

While in Argentina, Dr. Jackson-Menaldi, who also serves as director of the Lakeshore Professional Voice Center, Lakeshore Ear, Nose and Throat Center in St. Clair Shores, Mich., was invited to conduct several lectures covering clinical vocal topics at the country's major universities, including the Argentinean Otolaryngology and Speech Pathologic Pediatric Congress and Latino American Laryngology Congress.

An international exchange agreement for a "sister program" was signed between the WSU Otolaryngology Department and the School of Medicine Aconcagua, Mendoza, Argentina, that provides for otolaryngology residents and speech language pathologists to share research information and to visit and teach at the participating schools. Dr. Jackson-Menaldi oversees the program, which also includes the School of Medicine, Buenos Aires, Argentina, the School of Medicine, Pamplona, Spain, and the School of Medicine of Cordoba, Argentina.

Dr. Jackson-Menaldi has published numerous scientific papers, books and chapters on voice pathology and given many presentations both in the United States and internationally on topics related to the assessment and treatment of speaking and singing voice.
